Frequently asked questions
How it works, from creating the event to checking guests in on the day.
How do I create an event?
The type, the title and the date are enough. The description, the venue, the layout and the colours are edited afterwards in “Edit my page”. The date, end time, reply deadline, languages and number of seats are set in “Date and settings”.
What is the difference between inviting by link and by email?
By link, you copy the address of your page, or each guest’s personal link, and send it wherever you already talk to your guests. By email, PlanÉvénement sends the invitation to every guest with an address, with their personal link, and you see who got it. The two combine.
Do my guests need an account?
No. They open the page, answer yes, maybe or no, and it is saved. It takes a few seconds, on a phone or a computer.
Can I ask my guests my own questions?
Yes, up to five, in “Date and settings”: a free answer, one choice among options, or the meal choice. Totals appear on the Guests page, and answers in the file you can download. The meal choice is asked with the guest’s consent and kept apart.
How do follow-ups and reminders work?
A follow-up goes to guests who got the invitation by email and have not replied, at most once every three days. You send it yourself, or let it go automatically before the deadline. The day before the event, guests who said yes and asked for it get a reminder. These sends are part of the Event plan.
My event is online. Where does the Teams or Zoom link go?
In “Date and settings”. The link does not appear on the public page: only guests who said yes see it, and it is in their day-before reminder.
What happens when the seats run out?
If you set a number of seats, new yeses go on a waiting list once the seats are taken. When a seat frees up, you confirm someone from the list, and they get an email.
How do I check guests in on the day?
Open “Check-in on the day” on a phone. Search a name, tap “Check in”, and the arrivals count updates.
Can several people organize together?
Yes. For a personal event, invite a co-host in “Date and settings”. For an organization running several events, the Organization plan gives a team working on the same events.
How long is the guest list kept?
As long as you keep it. Nothing is erased on your behalf. You can download the list at any time, delete it with one button in your event, remove one guest at a time, or close your account, which erases everything.
Where is the data hosted?
The database is in Montréal. Some suppliers are American, notably for organizer accounts and email delivery. The privacy policy names all of them.
How much does it cost?
The page, the guest list, replies, your questions and check-in are free. The Event plan costs $49 once per event and adds sending by email, follow-ups, reminders, messages, the budget and the checklist. The Organization plan is priced to fit your needs. Write to us and we will talk it through.
How do I reach you?
Write to john@planmariage.ca. A real person answers, in French or English.
